Up for display today is this special little piece...
My dad made this for the kiddos the year Noah was born. It's on a piece of birch bark, and he used some sort of tool to carve the letters into it. It reads,
Kendall & Noah,
Merry Christmas
Merry Christmas
Santa
It's one of the first things we hang on the tree every year...and it always finds a place front and center on the tree. The kids still think Dad delivered it straight from Santa. I love knowing that this is one of a kind...just for my kiddos. Aren't those the best things to have?
Play along if you like! I love hearing about all of you, your stories, your traditions...feel free to share!

great idea! I think I'm going to take part too. Since we're just starting out, we don't have too many decorations acquired yet, but it will be fun to see what we've collected so far~
that is so heart warming! what a special gift your dad is... and apparently super creative and handy:)
great idea! great way to share stories too...
We give each other ornaments each year. So when my boys get married/move out and want them, they'll have a special set of ornaments to take with them. Nothing beats ones especially made for them like what your dad did!!
Oh...I am so not sentimental when it comes to decorations...I color coordinate mine and buy new every other year or so. I bout had a corinary yesterday when Logan asked if he could hang an ornament that he made at school on MY tree upstairs! I realized how redicilious I was being and gave in and that's when Kenzie spoke up and said that he could not b/c it didnt' match!! I think I'm creating a monster! LOL!!
In my defense, I did put up a christmas tree all their own in the basement family room that they can decorate any way they like. We are planning to make a ton of handmade ornaments to go on it as well.
Your Dad is very thoughtful and creative!! I'm very impressed!!!
oh my gosh, how totally wonderful! I can just imagine how special the kids felt when Santa sent them their own note. Wow!
I have, for as long as I can remember, put a red ball ornament on the tree first. In 'A Charlie Brown Christmas' it is the one ornament he takes off Snoopy's dog house and when he puts it on the tree it bends over in half. Always made a tear come to my eye. That movie holds a special place in my heart.
What a TERRIFIC Idea!! I can't wait to put my first one up!
And I LOVE LOVE LOVE That ornament! He could SOOO sell those! GORGEOUS!
And I just have to comment that I snorted out loud when I read Teresa's comment! ha ha ha ha-she is SUCH a hoot!
Oh! That is the most awesome ornament! What a special treat!
