Bountiful Harvest

On Monday, when we got back from Michigan, there was some work to be done. Besides all of the unpacking and laundry and general house-cleaning, the yard was overgrown, the flower beds needed weeding, the chickens needed fed, and we hadn't been in our garden in days. When we finally finished the work that had been waiting, we headed to the garden...and just look at what we found!Tomatoes, yellow squash, zucchini, cucumbers, and lots of green beans!!!
Just look at those perfect crisp green beans! I can't wait to make something special with them! Obviously, Noah couldn't wait either...
There's nothin' in the world like garden-fresh veggies!! Time to break out the Food Saver...

Holy COW! Look at that harvest! We are battling japanese beetles in our garden, so the harvest is not so bountiful right now.

By the way, LOVE the pictures of the kids with uncle and uncle's friend--so sweet!

wish my garden was doing as well. Next year I'll put more work into prepping the soil. Your veggies look so yummy.

Wow! How wonderful all that fresh food looks - especially the green beans. I just love them! I used to eat at a place called Buca Di Beppo in California - GREAT food. They would saute the green beans in butter and lemon. Oh how I miss that!

Okay...I am thinking that our garden has officially FLOPPED! Ugh...I was afraid of that! Only the carrots are growing...and I hate carrots. We'll probably just juice them and drink it like it's medicine. Yum...NOT! But I still do it to be somewhat healthy.

I'm jealous...those are some awesome veggies!!!!! :)

Terri- we had those pesky beetles last year really bad...this year, Barry picked up some organic spray for the beans and such. It has helped immensely!

Countrymouse- I still don't know what I'm makin' yet...can you believe that?

Rick - Heck, I didn't even know you were still around! ;0)

Kate - No green bean casserole here... at least, not the green bean casserole everyone knows and loves!

Jenelle - I am going to do more soil testing and prep next year too. I haven't done much in the past couple of years...although this year's harvest is the best we've had! Don't know why, though!

CG - We have Buca here too...LOVE IT! Maybe I'll try their green beans...the recipe is on the web!

Teresa - I have never tried carrots...I am sticking to the easy stuff first. Next year may be my year to get a little more ambitious. Like I told jenelle, more soil prep, etc. But I must say, so far everything has been so GOOD!!!
