Well, it's a beautiful Sunday here in Central Ohio...it's about 45 degrees and sunny! What a nice change! Noah and I got up today and made pancakes with fresh fruit. Kendall came down right as everything was ready to be served, and Barry joined us about an hour later...when it was all cold! The pancakes were really good, however...and the strawberries were actually sweet! YUM!
After breakfast, I decided that my task of the day would be to finally clean out and organize the pantry. Believe me, it has been needing it for a while and I just haven't gotten around to it. But I decided today was the day! As I was surveying the mess to get my plan of action, I found a nice little activity that the kids and I could do that would also double as a way to get rid of something in my pantry. COOL! For Christmas, one of our friends got each of the kids a Christmas tree planting kit, so we pulled those out and got to planting. I had to explain to the kiddos though that the trees will NOT be ready for next Christmas, LOL! Noah was interested for about...oh, say 5 minutes. And I don't think he believes me that something is going to grow in there either...
So with that out of the way, the kids went down to the basement to play and I got started on my pantry. Holy cow, you never realize all the junk you keep until you have to clean it out! I found cases of unopened play-doh, my bread machine that didn't work the last THREE times I used it (it is now in the trash!), Barry's new Magic Bullet he got for Christmas, and a bag of Dove dark chocolates that Barry got me for Christmas and hid so well that he couldn't find them! Anyway, it is done, and here are the before and after shots...It may not look like a huge difference, but trust me...it is. I threw out a bunch of stuff and got rid of two whole baskets of kid's craft stuff (it just went down to the toy room). So now that my pantry is all nice and organized, I may need to cook something!! It's Lemon Cream Chicken tonight, folks...and it's one of our all-time faves around here. We're also having spaghetti squash and pecan pie. Guess Savannah's still on my mind....

wow - now that's a pantry! Gotta love storage space. Good for you on getting organized. Can you send me the chicken recipe? It sounds wonderful! By the way - the cake turned out really well. The chocolate layer was a bit dry, but the oven here at the rental is unreliable.
Ok - you got me beat! Your pantry does look a lot better. Way to go!
Wow! I love that huge pantry! You lucky woman you! :)
Great job organizing. It's always great to have such relaxed, productive days.
Girls - Thanks, I LOVE my pantry! For anyone who loves to cook like I do, a nice-sized pantry is a must! And now that it is all organized, I feel inspired!
Jenelle - the recipe is on its way...and I'm glad the cake was yummy, except for that pesky chocolate layer, of course! ;0)
I LOVE organization!! Kuddos to you for getting that job done! Doesn't it feel so good? I too love your pantry! I have my biggest one yet in this new house but still not as big as yours!
P.S.-too funny about hiding those chocolates so well you could not find them...I do that all the time! LOL!!@
